2nd California Event

February 2 & 3, 2008

Announcing the 2nd California Volunteer Event 1, 2 & 3, February 2008. This will be yet another fine authentic living history experience as the last few years. New this year, will be an over night patrol and camp in the mountains west of the Fort. Marching rations will be issued for the patrol. Friday is a backcountry march of about 6-8 miles combined with a overnight camp on Friday night. Saturday and Sunday are garrison living history and training. We will have the same great cooking and rations as before. Soldiers sleep in the barracks and ladies that wish to participate will sleep in the Officers Qrtrs. Sutlers, civilian impressions and saloon keepers are being sought. This is an authenitic living history event, where participants can recreate the events and activities of Civil War soldiers that where actually stationed here. We will be quartered in the same original barracks as those soldiers of 144 years ago. Walk in these soldiers same footsteps and help recreate history where it happened! Please remember, we are ALL working to make this event as authentic as possible, no "Family Theme Campers" or "Picnicing with Guns" We need serious living historians who are devoted to historical accuracy to participate as Park Volunteers. Please help to spread the word about the event. Help post the event to other forums.
